Hi there, I’m Janice!

I’ve spent my life around two things: children and horses. From an early age, I saw how powerful growth, confidence, and regulation can be when children partner with an animal—something that can’t be replicated in a clinic or classroom alone.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ursinus College and initially planned to pursue veterinary medicine, working as a veterinary nurse along the way. While I loved the animals, I quickly realized I missed working with children. During college, I became a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) and returned to the work that felt most meaningful: supporting children through development, connection, and movement.

I went on to earn my Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Temple University and began my career in Early Intervention, where I supported infants and toddlers during the most critical stages of development.

My path shifted again when I became a mother. I was determined to breastfeed—but it didn’t come easily. A difficult delivery, months of anemia, oversupply, reflux, and a milk protein allergy made the early months overwhelming. Even with a strong pediatrician, community lactation support, and professional knowledge, I found myself navigating weight gain, feeding challenges, and infant discomfort largely on my own.

That experience changed everything.

I left my breastfeeding journey with a deep desire to support new parents—not just with information, but with clarity. To cut through social media myths, reduce fear, and help families feel confident that their babies are safe, growing, and developing as they should. In 2025, I became a Certified Lactation Counselor through the Healthy Children Project’s Center for Breastfeeding.

Milk & Milestones was created to bring evidence-based, up-to-date guidance together in one accessible place—so parents can get the right answers quickly, without endless Googling or second-guessing.

And yes—there are still horses. I currently serve as the Executive Director of Special Equestrians Therapeutic Riding Center in Warrington, Pennsylvania, where I support an incredible community of staff, horses, volunteers, and therapists dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities through the equine experience..

Client Reviews

“We were so fortunate to work with Janice for potty training and I truly can’t recommend her enough. Her knowledge, patience and calm confidence made the entire process feel manageable and positive for both us and our child.”

Janice was absolutely instrumental in getting our baby to take a bottle. We went from high lipase, full refusal to her gulping bottles down after following Janice’s recommendations. We can recommend her enough for her expertise, attention to detail and timely responses!
